Security screens for Sparrow Early Learning Centre, Ormeau
31 security doors and 24 security window screens, fitted across an early learning centre at the northern end of the Gold Coast.
The brief
Sparrow Early Learning Centre in Ormeau wanted rooms that could be opened up for airflow, and easier movement between rooms for staff and children, without giving up on safety. Health and safety is one of the centre's core values, so the screens had to be strong, durable and good value, and the process had to be quick and simple for a busy centre.
The centre likes to support local businesses and chose Viking on recommendation.
What we fitted
- 31 security doors, mostly large sliding doors between classrooms, verandas and play areas
- 24 security window screens
- All in Prowler Proof Protec, with black frames
Why Protec
Protec's perforated aluminium sheet lets the breeze through and keeps insects out, so classrooms can be opened up on a Queensland afternoon. From inside, staff can still see straight out to the play areas. From outside, the panels give daytime privacy, which matters for a centre beside a street and car park. The welded frames suit doors that are opened and closed all day.
